Cookie Policy

Last updated: 5 November 2026. This page lists every cookie and every piece of browser storage that FreeSmallTools uses, what each one is for, how long it lasts, and how to remove it.

In short: this site sets only the cookies needed to deliver the page you asked for. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no tracking pixels and no third-party cookies, so there is nothing optional to accept and no consent banner appears.

1. Cookies set by this site

All cookies here are first-party, which means they are set by freesmalltools.com and never shared with another company.

CookieWhat it is forDuration
free-small-tools-sessionKeeps one visit together so form submissions, error messages and security checks match: strictly necessary. It holds a random identifier and never the text, file or value you processed in a tool.2 hours
XSRF-TOKENHolds the cross-site request forgery token that page scripts copy into form posts, which lets the server reject forged submissions: strictly necessary, and readable by our own JavaScript for that reason only.2 hours
remember_web_…Optional and created only when an administrator ticks “Remember me” on the admin sign-in screen, to keep that browser signed in. Ordinary visitors are never sent this cookie.Up to 5 years, or until sign-out

On HTTPS connections the session and security cookies carry the Secure flag and SameSite=Lax, so browsers do not send them on cross-site requests. The session cookie is also HttpOnly, which keeps it out of reach of scripts.

2. Browser storage that is not a cookie

A few tools remember settings with localStorage. This data stays on your device: it is never sent to our server, never included in a request, and we cannot read it.

KeyUsed byWhat it holds
pt_recent_toolsHomepage and tool pagesThe short list of tools you opened most recently
pro-tools-notepad-notesOnline NotepadThe notes you typed and saved
pro-tools-notepad-prefsOnline NotepadYour notepad display preferences
pro-tools-pomodoro-settingsPomodoro TimerTimer lengths and other timer settings

These entries exist only because you used the feature that created them. Clearing site data for freesmalltools.com deletes all of them, and saved notepad text cannot be recovered afterwards.

3. What this site does not use

  • No advertising or remarketing cookies. No ad network runs on this site.
  • No analytics or visitor tracking. There is no Google Analytics, Tag Manager, heat map, session recorder or A/B testing script.
  • No social media pixels. The social icons in the footer are plain links; nothing from those networks loads unless you click one.
  • No cross-site tracking, fingerprinting or profiling, and no cookie-based personalisation of content.

The one third-party request a page may make is for a country flag image from flagcdn.com when a tool displays flags. That is an ordinary image request: it sets no cookie and does not follow you between sites.

4. Your choices

Because no optional cookies are set, there is no switch here that turns something off. You can still remove or block everything through your browser:

  • Chrome and Edge: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies or Site settings, where data for a single site can be cleared or blocked.
  • Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data, then Manage Data.
  • Safari: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data.

Blocking the session and security cookies does not break the tool pages, but it does stop the forms that depend on them from working, including the contact form and the administrator sign-in. Deleting the notepad entries removes those notes for good.

5. If this policy changes

If analytics, advertising or an embedded service that sets a non-essential cookie is ever added, a consent banner will ship in the same release: nothing optional will load before you choose, rejecting will be as easy as accepting, and this page will list exactly what was added and for how long. That choice would be remembered and could be changed at any time.

6. More information

Cookies are only part of how the site handles data. The Privacy Policy covers the rest, including what reaches our server, how long it is kept and the rights you have under the GDPR and comparable laws.

Questions about this page, or a request about your data, can go to info@freesmalltools.com.
