What Is Automatic Face Blur?

The Automatic Face Blur finds faces in a photo and covers each one with a blur box, so you can share a picture without exposing the people in it. In Chrome and Edge it uses the browser built-in FaceDetector API to detect up to twenty faces, and in every other browser you position the boxes yourself. You can also add extra boxes by hand and choose the blur strength.

Who Uses the Automatic Face Blur?

Bloggers, journalists, teachers and parents use it before posting a group photo, a customer submission or a classroom snapshot to a public page.

How to Use the Automatic Face Blur

  1. Drop the photo in and tick "Detect faces automatically" so the browser places a blur box over each face it finds.
  2. Set the blur strength, then use Centre region, Add another box or drag the handles to cover faces that were missed or to blur something else.
  3. Press Clear boxes to start over if needed, then Apply Blur and export as JPG.

Why Choose Our Automatic Face Blur?

  • Automatic detection covers every face it finds in one pass, then you fine-tune the boxes
  • Falls back to manual box placement in browsers without the FaceDetector API, so it always works
  • Blur is applied at quarter scale for a smooth, natural falloff rather than blocky pixels
  • Exported as JPG, which also strips the metadata that could otherwise give away the original
